The Basics of Intercession

The call to intercede is the call of the hour. This is a time when the great army of God must rise up and take their place—praying for governments, winning the lost, and interceding for others.

In this outline of the basics of intercession, Kenneth E. Hagin leads the believer into a better knowledge of what intercession is and how it works.

You will learn:

  • How to pray for others with the help of the Holy Spirit.
  • How to experience all that God has for you in the area of intercession.
  • How to intercede for our nation and for all those in authority.
  • How to deal triumphantly with strongholds through prayer.

Book Review: The Interceding Christian

In The Interceding Christian, we are reminded of the importance of praying for others. With this being an election year, it’s also good that the author reminds us to not spend as much time criticizing our leaders, as praying for them. We can not only pray for our leaders on a national level, but all the way down to our county and city as well. Not just leaders in politics, but in all areas that God places on our hearts.

The author also covers the importance of praying with the help of the Holy Spirit. I believe this is critical for effective prayer, where He helps us in a known or unknown tongue. He is our helper and helps to put some things to words that we simply can’t or to help us pray according to God’s will rather than our own. Finally, the author reminds us of the power we’ve been given to pray down strongholds in various areas of our lives.

I’d recommend The Interceding Christian to anyone that would like to learn a little more about intercession or intercessory prayer. This is a very short book and it’s easy to read. This does not go into great detail, but enough to help believers to begin their call to pray for others. You don’t have to be an “intercessor” to benefit from this book. We are all called to pray for others, so this will help those unsure of how to intercede to begin their journey. This a great little book for new believers also.

God doesn’t tell us to do something just to put extra words in the Bible, or to fill up space. He has a purpose in mind.
