Girls with Swords Inside Cover :

If you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one! -Jesus (Luke 22:36)

If there ever was a time for women to be armed, it’s now.

Yet the Word of God is a sword we often are more comfortable studying than wielding. It’s time for women to take up their swords and use them to connect heaven to earth. Worldwide, women are the targets of prejudice, sex trafficking, abuse, and even gendercide. Lisa Bevere writes that these attacks say more about who women might be in the future than who they have been in the past. In Girls with Swords she explains a spiritual enemy is seeking to disarm women on every level. It’s time for women to become the heroes God created them to be and stand- courageous, discerning, forgiving, and wise.

Creatively forging the imagery of swords, the Word of God, and the Cross, Girls with Swords will teach you:

  • How to speak the language of heaven on earth
  • What it means to intercede
  • What it means to carry your cross
  • What it means to be discerning
  • How to disarm the enemy
  • Why women are the enemy’s target- and why God needs them to be heroes

It’s time to take up your sword and be a hero.

Book Review: Girls with Swords

I originally bought this book in January 2015. I read a page or two of Girls With Swords and had to put it down because I found it very difficult to read. I had a goal to finish all books that I started in 2015, so I picked it up again. Looking back, I can’t recall the last time I dog eared and highlighted so much in a book. Why did I have so much trouble reading it the first time? Perhaps the enemy didn’t want me to read this book or I just wasn’t in the right place to pick up my sword just yet, who knows what it was. If you have or do experience the same thing that I did, I encourage you to pray and then keep reading… I believe that you’ll benefit from it as much as I did.

I like that Girls With Swords uses fencing facts and analogies between swords throughout history and God’s Word. It was great to learn more about fencing and swords and how they can relate to our use of God’s Word. Lisa Bevere reminds us of who we are in Christ Jesus and the warrior within each of us waiting to be called to battle each day. She reminds us that we are not victims, but mighty warriors in God’s army. Girls With Swords reminds us that we don’t have to live in defeat, if we are willing to take up the sword of the Spirit, God’s Word and use it in battle each day, (see Ephesians 6:13-18 for the full armor of God). This book is packed with great quotes from Lisa Bevere and others, as well as wonderful prayers at the end of each chapter.

I’d recommend Girls With Swords for anyone that is ready to go to battle and be the warrior in God’s army that they are meant to be. Girls With Swords is a powerful and timely word for us today. Perhaps there are those that don’t want to go to battle, but the truth remains ready or not, we are in a battle each day. Whether we choose to fight for victory with God’s Word, through Christ Jesus or if we chose to remain easy prey for the enemy, make no mistake, the battle will wage on. Perhaps, like Esther, you’ve been born for such at time as this and it’s time to take up your sword and fight the good fight, run your race and finish your course. I’m truly honored to fight along side each of you as we serve our Lord Jesus and take His love into all the world.

I hope you found this review helpful. If so, please share it with your family and friends, so they can learn about this great book too. You can click on any image of the book on this page to see it on Amazon.

Thanks for taking the time to read this review and God bless!

Lovely One, you already know you are a target. You might as well choose to be a warrior hero.
