Book Review: Discerning of Spirits
I found Discerning of Spirits very interesting and insightful. In this book you will find some clarification about some mis-teachings of the gift of discernment. Author Francis Frangipane reminds us that to operate properly in this gift properly, like all the gifts, one must operate from a place of Christ-likeness, which is love. In a world that is prone to judge first and ask questions later, it’s a refreshing to be reminded that the gifts of the Spirit cannot be used to their full capacity apart from the very nature of God, which is love. The goal of these gifts is to draw us and others closer to God and His Son, Jesus, not simply for the sake of warfare.
I felt my spirit quicken as I read this book. It was a wonderful reminder for us to stay close to Jesus, through whom all these gifts are given to us and by whom we have the blessing to operate in them. I was also reminded that regardless of the gift of the Spirit, we will do best for the glory of God and the helping of others if love and drawing others closer to God is our motive.
I’d recommend Discerning of Spirits to anyone that would like to know more about operating in this gift. It’s honest, insightful and he gets to the meat of the gift and how to properly operate in it. Again, this is a compilation of this topic taken from The Three Battlegrounds, so it’s short and focused.

Victory begins with the name of Jesus on our lips. It is consummated by the nature of Jesus in our hearts.
