What is the 21 Day Fix Total Body Cardio Fix Workout?

The 21 Day Fix Total Body Cardio Fix is a workout with four rounds. Each round has two workouts that lasts about a minute long. You get a very short break between the moves and then a short break after each round. It has a warm up and a cool down. And the best part is that it’s ONLY 30 minutes long! 


The Positives to the 21 Day Fix Total Body Cardio Fix Workout

One thing I like about the 21 Day Fix Total Body Cardio Fix workout program was the fact that it’s only 30 minutes! When you’re busy, it’s really nice to have short, powerful, intense and effective workouts. I like the way it incorporated various muscle groups into a few moves. It allows more of the body to be covered and worked with less time invested. The workouts don’t have to be long, as long as the time we spend working out is effective.

It’s not secret that I’m not a huge fan of cardio workouts, but that just tells me that I need to do more of them. I love weights and was very happy to see that Autumn incorporated some weights into this cardio program. I could feel every single move we did! A quick word of warning, you don’t need a lot of weights or heavy weights and you will still get a great workout and feel each move as she targets various muscle groups throughout the program. On a side note, you can also use bands in this program if don’t have weights.

I really appreciate is the modifier in this new workout. If you’re working with injuries, this will help you. This will also benefit anyone that hasn’t worked out in a long time or is new to exercising.

I like the short breaks between the moves and the rounds. My husband, Bruce, and I got really sick in January. Long story short, we feel much better now. My back is better, but I still have the chronic issues with it and I can still feel my right shoulder issue, though less intensely. We ended up taking about 5 weeks off to allow our bodies to rest and recover. That was a long time for us! The breaks in this workout were really needed and appreciated. In full disclosure, I did have to take some additional breaks and struggled to complete some of the moves. I used to get discouraged by things like this, because I can be pretty competitive. Now, I see it as room for improvement over the course of the program and I’m really excited to see the changes that will come from it.


The Negatives to the 21 Day Fix Total Body Cardio Fix Workout

The negatives about the 21 Day Fix Total Body Cardio Fix workout and I’m not even sure that I’d call them negatives, but things that I would have liked to see different about the program are things like more warm-up and cool down times. In all fairness, it is only 30-minutes and they can only fit so much into the 30-mintues. If you’re like me, working out with injuries, you may want to do what I will have to do with the workouts and take my time to warm up properly. I didn’t do that this time and should have. The weather is cooler today and the room I worked out in was cold. I honestly should have known better than to go into the workout without warming up a little more. I can tend to get impatient and at the same time excited to workout, especially when it’s a new program and that’s what happened today. 

The only other thing I’d really like to see is that Beachbody would begin to do a picture in picture of the workout modifier. I’m not sure how they could do this, but if they could allow an option that would let us choose to see the modifier at all times, in a smaller screen no matter where the camera is panning to, that would be a great benefit. Perhaps they could make it an option that we could select on the start up menu, for those of us that need it. It’s not a deal breaker, but it would add a tremendous value I believe to their already great programs. 


My Overall Impressions of the 21 Day Fix Total Body Cardio Fix Workout

My overall impressions are good for the 21 Day Fix Total Body Cardio workout from Beachbody. I believe Autumn Calabrese is a great addition to the already amazing team of trainers that Beachbody has. She’s upbeat, inspiring, has great energy, warm, funny and motivating. I think her workouts are intense, short and very effective. I’m looking forward to trying tomorrow’s workout and will let you know how it goes. I do believe I will be pretty sore tomorrow and the next day, considering I can already feel my muscles throbbing today. The good news is that I like to feel sore, it always makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something in my workouts.


For today, I’m going to work on getting all my meals in and recovering so that I can push hard tomorrow.
